The ‘Afro Gospel’ sound originated from
Afrobeat(s) which is a mix of the African sound and this a lot of time is credited to iconic musician/activist Fela Anikulapo Kuti. After his demise, new age artists have gone ahead in remaking the sound to blend to their style hence we have Afrobeats.
Afro gospel is a form of Christian music and a subgenre of gospel music.
However, We believe Afro gospel has been around for sometime now, but more like a fusion of our (Liberian) traditional music and afro beats tagged "Gbema". Over the years, there has been an evolution in the afrogospel area and that is because of it's attachment to afropop music causing Gbema to look totally different from afrogospel. But people like kanvee Adams, Sayon Mayson and more were all part of the genesis of this genre in Liberia. For probably more than 10years this local genre has been around..
Lately in 2017, a group of young growing artists (Agape Musica) came up with an original piece of afrobeats music tagged "God Business Na Play" and then Preach Rhymes and more who started killing it originally...
Today we feature a number of few pioneers, hardworking and consistent Afro Gospel artists that is currently bringing the beats to the christian music industry of Liberia.. We can't give account of all but few we have taken note of and are making head ways...
